Following the release and huge success of my first book, I went to work testing some theories I had developed. I had experimented and played around with these concepts and schemes for a long time, but never really explored all of the variations and many possibilities they offered. This past season I got a chance to really test them, stress them, and push them to their respective limits; to see if they were sound, and more importantly, functional within the Youth Double Wing system. It was very important to me that the concepts in this book be functional and easily adapted into the system with minimal time and effort. I have found that, as youth coaches, we have very little time to install extra components. Therefore, we need to maximize our efforts toward developing a philosophy and system wherein everything we do integrates easily otherwise our ability to execute the offense at a high level will be compromised. This book is designed to be used in conjunction with my first book Youth Double Wing: A Winning Youth Offense but the concepts can be easily adapted into any offense with a series based philosophy. Obviously the main focus of the book is the use of direct snap components that have made the single wing straight series so successful throughout football history. In fact, because of their fundamental soundness, there has been a recent reemergence of these concepts at the Division I and NFL levels. From the editor Michael Moreno: "Here we see an elegant expansion of ideas previously set forth, as well as the cultivation of new ideas, and complimentary schemes - all thoroughly presented in a book designed to be read cover-to-cover or as a broad reference source. Chapters 1-7 describe fundamental and advanced concepts (I particularly like the chapters on reading and manipulating the defense to optimize play calling) relevant to all play series, while Chapters 8-16 can be approached as independent frameworks that do not need to be read in sequence. There is some redundancy in these latter chapters that is deliberate, and intended to allow the reader to view these chapters in any order. We've also included an expansive Appendix that is essentially a book within the book, rounding out a very informative body of work that any football coach will appreciate. In contributing to this effort I have learned a great deal from a master coach that has left no stone unturned in his efforts to better understand and teach what is necessary to build and sustain a successful football program. A Master's Course in the youth DW

You want some additional complexity above and beyond the base double wing as detailed in Jack's first book, the Youth DW? You want to mix in some direct snap (shotgun) to the offense, but not go completely over to the single wing? This book has it - an amazingly detailed and comprehensive manual on some twists to the DW offense for youth. He took everything he learned writing his Youth DW and 63 Defense books, along with what he's learned through the years running this offense at the youth level, and put it into this book. GREAT book, can't recommend it enough.
